All the benefits, none of the hassle. The Silca Super Secret Chain Lube combines the speed and silent running of a hot-melt wax-dipper chain to a drip applied wax lubricant. The Secret Chain Lube also utilises the world’s fastest, most lubricious additive, nano-scale Tungsten Disulfide for maximum drive chain performance.

The Super Secret Chain Lube started as a project to develop the fastest hot-melt wax lubricant in early 2019. Josh Poertner, CEO of Silca, has been recommending hot melt wax and helping pro cyclists and triathletes wax chains for years and he wanted to bring the performance advantages to Silca customers too.

The project took a major turn from the world of IndyCar when Poertner was introduced to a group who had developed a technology to put micro-scale wax powders into quick-drying solutions that form a coating that is indiscernible from hot melt dipping in crockpots.

The combination of air-drying liquid wax and Tungsten Disulfide quickly proved to beat all currently available hot melt waxes in friction testing while being much faster to apply.

The nanoplatelets of WS2 (Tungsten Disulfide) in the Super Secret Chain lube has less than 1/3 the dynamic coefficient friction of PTFE and ¼ that of Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2).

The lube formula is also environmentally friendly, utilising 4 different types of wax and mild alcohol to act as a carrier.
